Could COVID-19 trigger diabetes? new study investigates

NCT ID NCT05867017

Summary

This study aimed to understand if having COVID-19, especially a severe case requiring hospitalization, increases a person's long-term risk of developing diabetes. Researchers followed 23 people, including those who had been hospitalized with COVID-19, those with mild cases, and people who never had COVID-19. They measured participants' blood sugar control and how their bodies produce and use insulin over time to look for signs of diabetes.
