First seen Nov 19, 2025 · Last updated Jun 12, 2026 · Updated 28 times

Summary

This study looked at whether inhaling a protein called interferon beta-1b helps hospitalized COVID-19 patients who need oxygen. The idea is that delivering the drug directly to the lungs might fight the virus and reduce the need for extra oxygen. 74 adults took part to see if this treatment improves oxygen levels compared to standard care alone.
