Balloon pump in heart vein may limit damage after heart attack

NCT ID NCT07354035

First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This study tests if a special balloon pump placed in a heart vein (coronary sinus) can reduce heart muscle damage when used alongside standard angioplasty in people having a major heart attack (STEMI). About 177 adults aged 18-80 with moderate heart pumping weakness will be randomly assigned to get the balloon pump plus angioplasty or angioplasty alone. The main goals are to measure heart damage on MRI and check for serious complications like death, stroke, or heart failure.
