Could a simple cornstarch snack unlock safer exercise for diabetic teens?

NCT ID NCT05540132

First seen Apr 08, 2026 · Last updated Apr 16, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This study aimed to see if eating a slow-digesting cornstarch snack before exercise could help teenagers with type 1 diabetes. The goal was to reduce the risk of dangerous low blood sugar after working out and to help them perform better during exercise. Teenagers would have tried two different bike workouts, one after the cornstarch and one after a regular fast-acting carb, to compare the results. However, the study was withdrawn before any participants were enrolled.
