Light treatment aims to halt vision loss in down syndrome patients
NCT ID NCT07135167
Summary
This study is testing an experimental treatment called corneal crosslinking (CXL) for people with Down syndrome who also have conditions that cause the clear front part of the eye (cornea) to thin and bulge, leading to worsening vision. The treatment involves applying vitamin B2 eye drops and then shining a special ultraviolet light on the eye for 20 minutes to try to strengthen the cornea and stop the vision from getting worse. Researchers want to see if this procedure can safely slow or prevent the progression of these eye conditions in this specific group of participants.
