New heart pump could be lifeline for failing hearts
NCT ID NCT05876000
First seen Jun 26, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study is testing a new mechanical heart pump, called the Corheart 6, in 53 people with advanced heart failure. The pump is implanted to help the heart pump blood. Researchers want to see if it is safe and effective at keeping patients alive, either until they can get a heart transplant or while living with the device. The main goal is to see how well patients do 6 months after the pump is placed.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
Corheart 6 Left Ventricular Assist System (a mechanical heart pump)
What this could lead to
If successful, this device could offer a new option for people with severe heart failure, helping them live longer or survive until a heart transplant.
What could go wrong
This is a small, early-stage study with only 53 participants, so results may not apply to everyone. The device carries risks like stroke, infection, or pump failure.
