Ab workout after surgery: could moving more prevent hernias?

NCT ID NCT03808584

First seen May 07, 2026 · Last updated May 07, 2026

Summary

This study looks at whether doing core muscle exercises right after abdominal surgery can prevent incisional hernias (a common complication) and reduce long-term pain. About 588 adults having abdominal surgery will either follow standard care or do specific core exercises. The goal is to see if staying active is better than resting the belly muscles.
