Summary
This study measured levels of a hormone called preptin in the umbilical cord blood of 72 newborns. Researchers compared babies with low or high birth weight, as well as babies of diabetic mothers, to normal-weight babies. The goal was to see if preptin levels are related to birth weight and maternal diabetes.
