First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This study tests whether personalized emails to GP practices can improve prescribing for COPD, a long-term lung condition. About 270 practices in West Yorkshire, UK, will receive either a generic or a tailored email alongside their regular feedback reports. The goal is to see if small changes in communication help doctors follow best-practice guidelines. No patient treatments are changed directly.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

What this could lead to

If successful, this could show that simple, personalized emails help doctors prescribe better for COPD patients, improving care quality.

What could go wrong

This is a small, early-stage study focused on changing doctor behavior, not testing a new drug. Results may not apply to other regions or conditions.
