Scientists test 'Apoptosis Tracer' to spot hidden lung damage in smokers and COPD

NCT ID NCT02978144

Summary

This study tested a new radioactive imaging agent called Annexin to see if it could detect early lung cell damage in people with COPD and in healthy smokers. Researchers compared scans from 34 participants, including healthy non-smokers, healthy smokers, and people with moderate to severe COPD. The goal was to see if this method could help doctors diagnose COPD earlier and track its progression in the future.
