Study reveals how mental tasks can wobble balance in COPD patients
NCT ID NCT06863246
Summary
This study aimed to understand how doing a mental task affects balance in people with Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD). Researchers observed 36 people, some with COPD and some healthy, while they stood still and performed a memory task. The goal was to learn if the extra mental effort makes it harder for people with COPD to stay steady, which could help explain their higher risk of falls.
