New drug combo shows promise for Hard-to-Treat breast cancer

NCT ID NCT02705859

First seen Apr 17, 2026 · Last updated Jun 14, 2026 · Updated 8 times

Summary

This study tested a combination of two drugs (copanlisib and trastuzumab) in 26 adults with advanced HER2-positive breast cancer that had stopped responding to earlier treatments. The goal was to find the safest dose of copanlisib and see if the combination could shrink tumors or slow the disease. While the treatment aims to control the cancer, it is not a cure, and patients may need ongoing therapy.
