Can a simple ultrasound dye replace kidney scans?

NCT ID NCT05090800

First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 16, 2026 · Updated 32 times

Summary

This study tested whether an FDA-approved ultrasound contrast agent (Definity) can help doctors see kidney blockages. Ten adults with a blocked kidney had two ultrasound scans—one before and one after surgery to fix the blockage. The goal was to compare measurements between the blocked and healthy kidney to see if the dye can reliably detect obstruction.
