New hormone patch could offer Estrogen-Free birth control option

Summary
This study tested two different doses of a birth control patch that releases the hormone levonorgestrel through the skin. The patch is designed to prevent pregnancy by thickening cervical mucus, making it harder for sperm to reach an egg. About 120 healthy women aged 18-44 took part to see how well the patch works, how safe it is, and how well it sticks to the skin. The patch does not protect against HIV or other sexually transmitted infections.
