New contact lens trial offers hope for astigmatism sufferers
NCT ID NCT06751225
First seen Jun 26, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study tested how well people with astigmatism who had never worn contact lenses liked a new type of soft lens that is replaced every week. Forty adults wore the lenses for about three weeks and reported on their vision and comfort. The goal was to see if these lenses could be a good option for beginners.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
weekly replacement soft contact lenses
What this could lead to
If successful, this could show that weekly replacement soft contact lenses are a comfortable and effective option for people with astigmatism who have never worn contacts before.
What could go wrong
This is a small, completed study with only 40 participants. Results may not apply to everyone, and the lenses might not work well for all types of astigmatism.
