NCT ID NCT06958991
First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study tests a special scanner that helps surgeons see if any cancer cells are left behind during breast-conserving surgery. The goal is to remove all cancer in one go and avoid a second operation. About 100 women with invasive or in-situ breast cancer will take part. The scanner is already approved for use, and the study focuses on how well it works in routine practice.

What this could lead to
If successful, this scanner could help surgeons remove all cancer in one operation, reducing the need for additional surgeries.
What could go wrong
This is a small, early-stage study with only 100 participants. The device is already approved, but it may not improve outcomes significantly or work for all patients.
