New imaging technique guides surgeons to tiny lung tumors

NCT ID NCT02496624

First seen May 11, 2026 ยท Last updated May 11, 2026

Summary

This study tested a new way to help surgeons find small lung nodules during a type of keyhole surgery called VATS. Doctors used a special CT scanner in the operating room to place tiny metal markers (microcoils) near the nodules before removing them. The goal was to see how much radiation patients received and how long the procedure took. The study involved 40 adults with lung nodules who were already scheduled for this surgery.
