New program aims to keep stroke patients out of nursing homes

Summary
This study tests two programs for people recovering from a stroke who are leaving inpatient rehab and going home. Half of the 520 participants (age 55+) will get a stroke education program, and the other half will get a program focused on making their home environment safer. The goal is to see which approach better reduces disability and the need for skilled nursing facility stays.
