Which method gets patients more involved in research? new study aims to find out.
NCT ID NCT06838689
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This study compares two ways of involving patients, caregivers, clinicians, and community members in research. One method is more consultative, the other more collaborative. Researchers want to see which approach builds more trust and engagement, especially among groups that are often left out of research. About 136 participants will help with real studies on pediatric mental health, cancer screening, and serious illness.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
What this could lead to
If this works, it could show researchers the best way to involve patients and the public in designing and sharing research, making studies more relevant and trustworthy.
What could go wrong
This is an early study comparing two approaches, so it may not find a clear winner. Results might not apply to all types of research or communities.
