Stitch showdown: can a new suturing method prevent belly wounds from bursting open?
NCT ID NCT07585344
First seen May 14, 2026 ยท Last updated May 14, 2026
Summary
This study tests whether a special 'figure-of-X' stitching pattern is better than the usual continuous stitch for closing the abdominal wall after colorectal surgery. The goal is to see if it reduces the chance of the wound bursting open, a serious complication. About 40 adults having open colorectal surgery will be randomly assigned to one of the two closure methods and followed for 30 days.
