Summary
This study tested two emotion regulation strategies—reconstrual and repurposing—to see which better reduces sadness and anxiety in 233 young adults aged 18-30. Participants read emotional stories, then used one of the strategies or a control task. The goal was to find out if the strategies work differently for sadness versus anxiety and whether they boost positive emotions like hope.
