New study tests better ways to see bile ducts during tricky gallbladder removal

NCT ID NCT07400237

First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This study compares two imaging techniques—laparoscopic ultrasound and a special dye called indocyanine green—to help surgeons see important bile duct structures during difficult gallbladder removal surgery. About 62 adults with conditions like acute cholecystitis, prior abdominal surgery, or obesity will be enrolled. Each patient will receive both imaging methods during their operation so doctors can directly compare which one works better.
