Heart wires for kids: which lasts longer and is safer to remove?

NCT ID NCT00335036

Summary

This study aimed to find out which of two newer types of wires for implantable heart defibrillators (ICDs) works better for children and young adults with heart conditions. Researchers compared a thinner wire against a special coated wire to see which one is more durable over time and easier to remove safely if it breaks or causes problems. The goal was to improve long-term safety for young patients who need these life-saving devices.
