Could a simple shot replace IV blood thinners in lung machine patients?
NCT ID NCT04496362
First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 15, 2026 · Updated 31 times
Summary
This study compares two ways of giving the blood thinner heparin to adults on a heart-lung machine (ECMO) for severe breathing problems. One group gets the standard IV drip, the other gets a shot under the skin. Researchers will check for bleeding, dangerous clots, and survival. The goal is to see if the shot is safer and just as effective.
