Tiny biopsy vs. big surgery: which gives the better cancer diagnosis?
NCT ID NCT04809025
First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 23, 2026 · Updated 33 times
Summary
This study compares two ways to diagnose stomach cancer: using a small sample taken during an endoscopy (biopsy) versus using the whole tumor removed during surgery. The goal is to see if the biopsy alone can reliably determine the cancer type, grade, and key markers like HER-2 and MSI status. About 510 adults with stomach cancer who are scheduled for surgery will participate. If successful, patients may get accurate diagnoses without needing surgery just for testing.
