New eye scan may change how often wet AMD patients need injections

NCT ID NCT02868086

First seen Jan 11, 2026 · Last updated May 16, 2026 · Updated 25 times

Summary

This study looked at two different scanning methods to monitor wet age-related macular degeneration (AMD) in 68 adults aged 50 and older who were already receiving anti-VEGF injections as needed. The goal was to see if using a newer type of scan (OCT angiography) instead of the standard scan (OCT B-scan) would change how often injections were given and whether that affected vision. The results help doctors understand if the newer scan provides useful information for managing treatment timing.
