Could holding off on antibiotics be safer for kids with pneumonia?
NCT ID NCT06986148
First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 14, 2026 · Updated 23 times
Summary
This study looks at whether a 'watch and wait' strategy (giving antibiotics only if a child doesn't improve after 3 days) works as well as giving antibiotics right away for children with mild pneumonia. About 2,000 children will be randomly assigned to one of the two approaches. The goal is to reduce unnecessary antibiotic use while still helping kids recover fully.
