Pharmacists step in to save kidneys for diabetics without a doctor

NCT ID NCT07169422

First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated Apr 28, 2026 · Updated 21 times

Summary

This study tests whether community pharmacists can safely prescribe medications that protect the kidneys in people with type 2 diabetes and early kidney disease. The trial will include 120 adults who do not have a regular family doctor. Half will get pharmacist-led care using a step-by-step guide, and the other half will receive usual care. The goal is to see if more patients start and stay on recommended kidney-protective drugs, which could slow disease progression and reduce complications.
