Church-based health workers aim to cut cancer and heart disease in high-risk communities

Summary

This study tests whether community health workers can help people aged 45 and older who are not up-to-date with colorectal cancer screening get tested and adopt healthier lifestyles. The program combines cancer screening support with a web-based lifestyle program to also reduce heart disease risk. About 880 participants will be recruited through churches, and the study compares the health worker approach to usual care.
