Barbershops and salons become hubs for COVID-19 testing outreach
NCT ID NCT05918952
Summary
This study aimed to increase COVID-19 testing in Black and African American communities by working through trusted local spaces like barbershops and beauty salons. Researchers trained stylists and barbers as community opinion leaders and showed customers short, culturally relevant videos about testing. The goal was to understand and overcome barriers to testing, such as access and medical distrust, by using a community-based approach.
