First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This phase II trial is testing a combination of three drugs—anlotinib, penpulimab, and capecitabine—as a first treatment for people whose nasopharyngeal cancer has come back or spread. The study includes 59 adults aged 18 to 65 who have not had prior systemic therapy for their recurrent or metastatic disease. The goal is to see if this combination can delay cancer progression and improve survival.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
anlotinib, penpulimab, and capecitabine
What this could lead to
If successful, this could offer a new first-line treatment option for people with recurrent or metastatic nasopharyngeal cancer, potentially improving how long they live without the disease getting worse.
What could go wrong
This is a small, early-phase trial with only 59 participants and no comparison group. The combination may cause significant side effects, and results may not apply to all patients.
