Doctors test glowing dye and laser light to zap hidden cancer cells during surgery

NCT ID NCT06307548

Summary

This study is testing a two-step approach during surgery for advanced or returning colorectal cancer. First, patients take a pill that makes cancer cells glow under a special blue light, helping surgeons see and remove more tumor tissue. Then, surgeons use a red laser light to try to kill any remaining cancer cells right in the operating room. The goal is to improve local control of the cancer and prevent it from coming back in the same area.
