Which surgery works better for overweight colon cancer patients?

NCT ID NCT07314996

Summary

This study aims to determine whether traditional open surgery or minimally invasive laparoscopic surgery leads to better long-term outcomes for colon cancer patients who have significant abdominal fat. Researchers will follow 664 patients for five years after surgery to see which approach results in longer cancer-free survival. The study specifically focuses on patients with visceral obesity, as previous research suggests these patients may face different surgical challenges.
