First seen Apr 26, 2026 · Last updated May 16, 2026 · Updated 2 times
Summary
This study tested whether gargling cold water can help reduce dry mouth and thirst in patients recovering from major abdominal surgery. 88 adults were randomly assigned to either gargle cold water or receive standard care. Researchers measured thirst, dry mouth, discomfort, and satisfaction at several points after surgery. The goal was to see if this simple, low-cost nursing intervention could improve patient comfort.
