First seen Jan 10, 2026 · Last updated Apr 30, 2026 · Updated 16 times
Summary
This study looks at why many people who survive a stay in the intensive care unit (ICU) develop long-term muscle weakness. Researchers will measure inflammation, metabolism, and muscle cell function in 100 patients after ICU discharge and compare them to patients recovering from major abdominal surgery. The goal is to find patterns that predict muscle recovery over three months.
