Summary
This study tests whether colchicine, a drug usually used for gout, can prevent atrial fibrillation (a type of irregular heartbeat) after coronary artery bypass surgery. About 400 adults scheduled for elective bypass will receive either colchicine or a placebo starting 3 days before surgery and continuing for a week after. The main goal is to see if colchicine reduces the number of people who develop this heart rhythm problem within 14 days after surgery.
