Ancient drug may help modern diabetes problem

Summary

This study is testing whether colchicine, an anti-inflammatory medication, can help people with type 1 diabetes use insulin more effectively. Researchers are enrolling 26 adults who have type 1 diabetes with signs of ongoing inflammation and reduced insulin sensitivity. Participants will receive either colchicine or a placebo pill in addition to their standard diabetes care to see if it improves how their bodies respond to insulin.
