Old drug, new hope: can a cheap pill stop the lasting pain of blood clots?

NCT ID NCT06440694

Summary

This study is testing if a low daily dose of colchicine, an anti-inflammatory drug, can prevent a painful long-term condition called post-thrombotic syndrome (PTS) after a serious leg blood clot (DVT). It will involve 150 adults who have just been diagnosed with a DVT. Participants will take either colchicine or a placebo pill daily for six months to see if it reduces their risk of developing chronic leg pain, swelling, and skin changes.
