Heart bypass patients may benefit from cheap arthritis drug

Summary
This study tests whether taking a daily low dose of colchicine (a drug usually used for gout) for one year after coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG) can reduce the chance of the new blood vessels (grafts) failing. About 100 adults who recently had bypass surgery will take colchicine or no extra treatment. The goal is to see if colchicine helps keep grafts open and prevents future heart problems.
