NCT ID NCT04343157
First seen Jun 26, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This Phase 2 trial tests a new type of radiation therapy designed to avoid key brain areas involved in memory and thinking. Sixty adults with 1 to 3 small brain metastases will receive cognitive-sparing stereotactic radiosurgery. The main goal is to see if this approach better preserves verbal memory and other cognitive functions compared to standard radiation.

Active substance
Cognitive-sparing brain stereotactic radiosurgery (SRS)
What this could lead to
If successful, this approach could help preserve memory and thinking skills in people receiving radiation for brain metastases.
What could go wrong
This is a small, early-phase study with only 60 participants. It is not yet known if the cognitive benefits will be significant or if tumor control will be maintained.
