Could a common supplement protect nerves during breast cancer treatment?
NCT ID NCT07307911
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This study tested whether Coenzyme Q10, a dietary supplement, can reduce nerve damage, fatigue, and pain in women with newly diagnosed breast cancer receiving paclitaxel chemotherapy. Fifty women took either CoQ10 plus chemotherapy or chemotherapy alone for twelve weeks. Researchers measured nerve health through blood tests and questionnaires to see if the supplement helps protect nerves and improve quality of life.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
Coenzyme Q10
What this could lead to
If it works, this could point toward a simple supplement to ease nerve pain and fatigue during chemotherapy, improving quality of life.
What could go wrong
This is a small Phase 2 trial with only 50 participants, so results may not apply widely. The supplement may not reduce symptoms significantly, and side effects are possible.
