First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 16, 2026 · Updated 27 times
Summary
This study tests two different approaches to prevent cytomegalovirus (CMV) disease in adults who have received a kidney from a CMV-positive donor but are themselves CMV-negative. One group will take daily antiviral medication for 200 days, while the other will have weekly blood tests and only take medication if the virus appears. The goal is to see which method works better at preventing CMV disease in the first year after transplant.
