New hope for transplant patients: study aims to stop hidden virus after standard treatment ends
NCT ID NCT06958796
First seen Nov 03, 2025 · Last updated May 23, 2026 · Updated 27 times
Summary
This study tests whether giving an extra drug called CytoGam® after standard antiviral treatment can help prevent late CMV infection in people who received a kidney or liver transplant. About 80 high-risk patients (where the donor had CMV but the recipient did not) will take part. The goal is to see if this approach reduces the chance of getting sick from CMV after the usual preventive medicines are stopped.
