New bladder irrigation device cuts infection risk after urologic surgery
NCT ID NCT07510685
First seen Apr 16, 2026 · Last updated May 10, 2026 · Updated 4 times
Summary
This study tested whether a closed-system bladder irrigation device could lower the chance of urinary tract infections in 240 adults after prostate or bladder tumor surgery. Patients were randomly assigned to the new device or standard care. The closed system keeps the catheter sealed during washouts, reducing contamination. Results showed fewer infections and less exposure to bodily fluids for healthcare workers.
