Two-Drug sequence aims to clear CLL cells and let patients stop treatment
NCT ID NCT07682415
First seen Jul 02, 2026 ยท Last updated Jul 02, 2026
Summary
This phase 2 trial tests a treatment plan for people with newly diagnosed chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL) or small lymphocytic lymphoma (SLL). Participants first take zanubrutinib alone for 12 cycles, then add sonrotoclax for another 12 cycles. The goal is to see if this sequence can make the cancer undetectable in the blood and allow low-risk patients to stop all treatment. The study also monitors side effects and immune function.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only โ not medical advice or a prediction.
- Active substance
- zanubrutinib and sonrotoclax
- What this could lead to
- If successful, this treatment sequence could offer a time-limited therapy that clears CLL/SLL cells deeply, potentially allowing patients to stop treatment and stay in remission.
- What could go wrong
- This is an early-phase trial with only 60 participants, so results may not apply to all patients. The combination may cause side effects, and the high-risk group still needs ongoing maintenance therapy.
