Could a common antibiotic beat joint infections?
NCT ID NCT07335627
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This study looks at whether the antibiotic clindamycin works as well as other drugs for treating Streptococcus infections in artificial joints. Researchers will compare success rates in 260 adults who had surgery for this infection. The goal is to see if clindamycin can be a good alternative to standard treatments.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
Clindamycin (an antibiotic)
What this could lead to
If successful, this could confirm clindamycin as a reliable alternative to standard antibiotics for treating Streptococcus infections in artificial joints.
What could go wrong
This is an observational study, not a controlled experiment, so results may be less definitive. The success rate depends on many factors, and clindamycin may not work for everyone.
