New blood test could spare celiac patients from painful biopsies

NCT ID NCT07364461

First seen Jan 26, 2026 · Last updated May 15, 2026 · Updated 17 times

Summary

This study looked at whether a newer type of blood test (called CLIA) can accurately diagnose celiac disease without needing a biopsy of the small intestine. Researchers tested 765 people who were already having a biopsy and eating gluten. They wanted to find the best cutoff level for the test to reliably predict intestinal damage. The goal is to make diagnosis easier and less invasive for both children and adults.
