Cheek fat patch tested to seal cleft palate holes

NCT ID NCT06807450

Summary

This study tested a new surgical technique to repair persistent holes (fistulas) in the roof of the mouth for people with a cleft palate. 36 patients were split into two groups: one received the standard two-layer repair, while the other received the standard repair plus a small graft of fat taken from the cheek placed between the layers. The goal was to see if adding this fat graft improved healing and reduced the chance of the hole reopening.
