First seen Jan 22, 2026 · Last updated Jun 02, 2026 · Updated 17 times

Summary

This study works with 26 African Methodist Episcopal churches in South Carolina to help older adults (50+) get more active through group walking. The program, called Walk Your Heart to Health, also teaches churches how to support healthy eating. Over 5 years, researchers will see if the program increases physical activity and social connections, and find the best ways to spread it to more churches.
