Researchers hunt for clues to prevent chronic pain after back operations
NCT ID NCT03444168
Summary
This study aimed to understand why some people develop long-lasting chronic pain after back surgery, a condition known as Failed Back Surgery Syndrome. Researchers followed 158 people, including surgery candidates, those with existing chronic pain after surgery, and healthy volunteers, to identify risk factors and patient characteristics linked to poor pain outcomes. The goal was to gather knowledge that could one day help predict and prevent this debilitating condition.
